Info Post
Happy birthday Superette! To celebrate the celebrations of one of Auckland's favourite boutiques, we asked them to share their ten favourite things...

1. Studs
The magpie in us seems to be drawn to everything embellished with studs at the moment...and even more so, our amazing new Deadly Ponies for Superette collaboration bag ( being released this birthday weekend in our Newmarket store, and online at 10am) which is aptly studded all over with gold studs.
2. All Things Mexican...(and a bit of Spanish)
We're going through a bit of a Mexico phase at the moment. So second best to actually going there (how good would that be right now?) is embracing the culture in every which way we can. We had a Mexican themed Christmas party a few years back...perhaps it stemmed from there? Regardless, we're warming up our winter with pitchers of sangria, seafood paella and build-your-own burrito kits. Locally, we love El Camino in Kingsland for the Taco Salad, and Bonita in Ponsonby for the best Sangria in town. Topping it off, James is planning a Mexican-themed weekend for his birthday this year... so no doubt the preparation and excitement will give us enough Mexicano to tie us over for the next few months.

3. Varsity
Pure American goodness! We are loving old school varsity inspired dressing at the moment. Like letterman jackets (especially James's new customized Superette one, and the amazing Lover classic black one, below), lots of grey marle and of course frat parties - we suffice with winter house parties. So good when you have a friend willing enough to play host!

4. Stacks of jewellery....rings and bracelets...
When it comes us and jewellery, more is definitely more. A mentality that since extended through all Superette employees...you'll be hard pushed to find one of our staff members whose wrists aren't adorned in stacks of bracelets too. It's probably as a result of having so many amazing jewellery designers stocked in-store,  that we find it hard to choose between them so simply just don't! Oh and no wrist is complete without a TOY watch either. You can see how we find it hard to stop right?

5. Macaroons and Dizengoff Coffee
Our working day rarely begins without a trim flat white from Dizengoff on Ponsonby Road in hand ( The standard 'Superette' breakfast of avocado and marmite on toast doesn't go amiss either- don't knock it till you've tried it!). There is no beating Dizengoff for the best coffee (and staff!) in town! And as if we needed any more excuse for a trip down there, they now have these amazing little macaroons sitting on the counter to tempt us... and they taste as good as they look!! So now its not just coffee...it's coffee, and a macaroon too.

6. Pinboards, blackboards and lists
Get us through our working day!! Our workroom is centered around a huge pinboard, which its filled with images, photos and bits and bobs that inspire us. While we love our iCal schedules, call us old fashioned but there is nothing better than a good ol' handwritten to do list each day. Even more so when it's all ticked off.

7. Our Taxidermy friends
Over the years we have amassed a bit of a collection of taxidermy friends...most of these have been rescued somehow or another, so are a little battered and bruised...but they all have their own little stories, which is kind of nice, and our workroom wouldn't be the same without them!

8. Birthdays and bunting

Not just an good excuse for a party!! The last few weeks have been birthday fever as we've been busy planning our 8th Birthday festivities (Superette is eight this year!). Somewhere in amongst the birthday decorations we have become rather fond of bunting flags. We had ours designed by Wellington illustrator Sally Shand, and I think its fair to say that post-birthday these pretty flags will find themselves a permanent home strung up in our workroom...

Check out what is happening in-store and come along and help us celebrate too!

9. Hot toddies
Lemon and honey drinks to fight off winter colds, mulled wine at the Cardrona pub after a day up the mountain and traditional 'hot toddies' with whiskey or brandy to cure all the winter blues!

Here are two goodies below...

10. The luxurious outdoors
Maybe its now that the beach is such a distant memory...but this winter, we can't get stop dreaming of the 'luxurious outdoors'. Yes luxurious..(we are not talking about camping trips where the novelty of of sleeping in a tent wears off after the first night)... we're talking outdoor baths, princess beds and staring at the stars, huts and tee-pees and red wine in front of roaring cabin fires.

11. Basics by Bassike
Our daily attire is rarely complete without a Bassike piece somewhere in the mix. We could wax lyrical about their stuff all day... but we can't beat Bassike for our wardrobe staples. Our favourites at the moment? The organic cotton long and lean tops, boys tees worn by us girls, and the new striped long-sleeved maxi dress.
