Grace Coddington (the Cod), became creative director of American Vogue in 1995 but, first made a splash on the pages of Vogue as a model. In 1959, she won Vogue's 'Young Idea' model contest. She constantly reinvented her image by changing her distinctive red hair from a chunky Vidal Sassoon bob to a halo of frizzy curls. She went on to become one of the magazine's most influential fashion editors.
