Info Post

Black Jack was wonderful from beginning to end. First I went to a little restaurant down the street, some fancy little tapas bar place that had a really delicious sounding potato and apple salad with grilled sardines. I’m all about smelly delicious tasting fish when it’s incorporated into something delicious, like potato salad. What I wasn’t expecting, was two whole - surprisingly large - fish placed delicately one on top of the other in the shape of an “x” gently resting on top of my potato salad.

They were looking right at me, and since I was alone and didn’t want to draw attention to the sad lonely blonde girl eating potatoes by herself on a summery Thursday night, I opted to toss them aside and avoid causing a scene. I wasn’t sure what the most tactful way to deal with this situation was, so I called Mike. He basically laughed at me and told me to ask the waiter how one goes about eating an entire fish, bones, eyeballs and scales included.

Just to make the experience weirder, the waiter came over and interrupted my phone convo with Mikey to ask me a “personal question.”

Waiter: “Is your name Pascale? Cause the guy in the kitchen is convinced he knows you....”

Me: “no. That is not my name”

Waiter: “oh. Ok. How’s the salad?”

Me: “delicious. Thanks”

Back to dinner...Mel eventually called and joined me and we spent the rest of the meal giggling about the prospect of asking the waiter to give me the two dead fish to go.

They came in handy, as I had planned, when I decided on putting the fish in stef’s beer while she was looking away (thanks to distractions from Angus, Casey’s pseudo brother.)

Her screaming and crying led her to hide her face in a video lottery machine which someone had forgotten to cash out on. Her intentions were of course to take the receipt and cash out herself, but the two angry looking Asian gamblers who came back looking for their money scared her out of it and she gave the ticket to Dave who pretended to play a machine for 5 minutes and then cashed in himself.

I let myself get a lil bit drunker than I had planned and enjoyed the mild buzz and indulged in a whole lot of staring at John Milchem who was DJ-ing. Of course I made sure always to stand directly in front of him since his eyes are positioned much like the sardine I put in stef’s beer and he can only see people in his periph. I think he might be related to Chrissy Shirlz. Could be his dad.

I woke up in a panic ten minutes before my alarm was supposed to go off. I was happy to see I had more time than I had anticipated having to get going. So I took Lola for a walk and moved mike’s car before missing my bus and sprinting to work in the rain. As I walked I looked through my text message outbox from last night to see who I may have drunkenly texted.... the only one that surprised me was a picture message I apparently sent mike last night while I was peeing . It’s a Fido ad I saw in the stall I was in:

Sometimes I wish I was on a reality show so a camera could capture moments like the one when I decided a pug wearing an afro was the ad in the world.

Good to see Casey, Dave, Kristina, Olivia, Stef, Mel, My new friend Angus, Stef’s brother and the two John’s that have met me 16-65 times and still never recognize me.

Hurray for rainy Fridays after a night out when nobody comes to the pool at all and I get to sit here and eat my banana and write blogs all merry day!
