I like fashion shoots where models look chic and
clean - not as if they haven't used a hairbrush for three days and threw on some clothes that they found on the bedroom floor. Imperfection is lovely, but I am feeling quite bored and uninspired by shoots where a pretty young girl hangs out in a bedroom looking dishevelled and mopey. Life isn't that bad for most of us: smile! I have been obsessed with
this website after
Rhiannon wrote about it a while back, which features spreads from vintage issues of
Vogue from 1965 until 1975. It's a breath of fresh air - there's life in the shoots; models smiling, pulling faces, dancing, living. I think
The Gentlewoman is a modern magazine that does fashion shoots incredibly well; interesting concepts with women caught in the act of doing something rather than being static, or sad. And yes, they look clean too.
