Info Post
Beauty blogs are inherently boring, I think. They're either a neverending list of new products and a diary of launch events without nary a thought for critique or sensible instructions on all the things we actually want to know. I have no idea how to apply false eyelashes, or hide a pimple, or make my hair less frizzy, or curl it, or do liquid eyeliner properly. And for those trying desperately to become a fashion writer, beauty writing is often the in - it's something that you might start out on. In fact, beauty advertising is probably the only reason fashion magazines can survive.

But it feels like beauty is important again. What a sentence! It feels like beauty, and all its permutations (hair, skincare, makeup) is relevant, and natural and desirable. The age of fake tanning and over straightened hair is over and we all want neutral, easy, natural faces and 'dos, and we want to be pretty and smart and simple and fresh. But it's not that easy to have nice skin or perfectly wavy casual beach hair.

There's a new blog called Into The Gloss, and it's run by Emily Weiss. I have no idea who she is but she has been on The Hills, apparently. Which I have never seen. However, great website! It's like an 'in my closet' website but for beauty, there are lots of pictures, and it's natural and real, and really informative.
