Paul Barbera's beautiful project Where They Create shows the workspaces of a hefty number of creative people. Particular favourites are the Fantastic Man headquarters, the kitchen of The Jewels of New York, and the studio of Confetti System. A pleasing space to work in is very important - it gives stability, a hub, somewhere to be still. These ones are especially good - not fancy, or perfect, just warm and dishevelled. I look forward to owning the book version. The images above are from The Jewels of New York series, which, Barbera disclaims, are rather different from his usual approach or subjects. If you haven't visited these clever cooks, you should - their recipes and food styling are an inspiration. I love the details - the colourful Sobranie cigarettes, the buttery fingermarks on the iPad.
