We came to Mexico City a few days prior to Dia de los Muertos so it was quite amazing to see all the colorful preparations for the day taking place around the country. Women with skull painted faces dressed in ancient Aztec attire haunted the zocalo, calacas could be found hanging from trees and cafe ceilings throughout the the country along electric tangerine colored marigolds. I'd never seen the dead celebrated so beautifully.
