Info Post

The Dutch Fashion Awards 2008.

Believe it or not, but our small country has a lot of talent and after designers who now a days work for highfashion labels such as Chloe, Lanvin and Vuitton. We arn't looking for the new Viktor & Rolf, but we do tend to hold events such as this one to support the talent we have and hoping that one day they'll cross the border and get just as big as the ones above.

Last years winners Klavers van Engelen took their money to work on a new collection, which was shown in Milan this year. This year there wern't that many new nominees for the 25.000euro and extras, but the designers who got picked, are truly talented.

Francisco van Benthum, G+N, Jeroen van Tuyl, Joline Jolink, Mada van Gaans, Monique van Heist and Percy Irausquin, last name Percy died this year, but his team showed some of his amazing dresses. And despite my favs are Francisco van Joline, it was Monique van Heist who won both prices, the money and a collaboration in making her own eyewear collection.

As I said above, or not, but then I will now. I'm really happy we have events such as these. Also since they came up with some new Awards, one of them was the Fashion Icon Award, I didn't win, but my dear friend Aynouk Tan did. And god, did she deserve it! But! With the show, the picks and all, it accured to me that most of us, arn't ready for a big step forward yet. Because trust me, theres a lot, a lot, of talent held down here in The Netherlands.

UltraViolet Flexbar

The other day, haha. My favorite line to start with, ha. I was cleaning my room, took me a hour or four, but it's way better now, since it sort of was like my own fleamarket and since most if black, a big mess and hard to find anything. Ha. But when Chriz called me if I was going to UV, I was watching Shelter, was that the name of the movie again..? Anyway, not planning to go, but in the end, I did!

Havn't been to the party in ages, since I'm not the biggest fan. But this time was pretty much fun. Not too crowded, but fun. Then also most of my friend were there, Matthew Stone dropped by for a quick spin, Lars 'Welcome to Amsterdam' is in town and lives here now, and whatever more. It was fun.

The fool I can be, in walking back home in the rain, is another thingy, but for some reason I like the rain these days. :)

Anyway, it's time for me to get some rest now. Been working today, having a bite with Christopher and tomorrow is another busy day. I'm up for a quote right now or maybe something such as.. Is the glass half empty or half full? Who knows. All I know is that a lot of change is on his way. x
