Kurt Cobain's greasy, bleached hair, pale waify body and thrift-shop clothes created the image of a strung out, moody adolescent. It started out as an anti-fashion formula that dressed a generation of disaffecteds known as Generation X. This inspired Marc Jacobs to create his 'grunge' collection in 1993.
