1. 1000 thread count 100% cotton white sheets
Nothing beats them, nothing.
2. Magazines, Books & Book Shelves
Print is definitely not dead to me. No matter how binding my relationship to my iphone and Mac, nothing with ever get me as excited as that time of the month when the new magazines flood the shelves of great stores like MagNation. Even more spine tingling is when I arrive home on a Friday night to see the familiar plastic wrapped parcel of my airfreight Paris and UK Vogue, Apartmento and Paradis waiting to be devoured over the weekend. Our apartment resembles a small bookshop with piles of books and magazines on just about on every flat surface. I am still hunting for that perfect bookshelf and one day hope to have a whole room dedicated to a library.
3. Vege Patches
Now I don’t have one of these as we live in an apartment but I constantly dream of constructing one and filling it to the brim with goodness. I have such fond memories of my mum planting the veges and herbs each season on the farm where I grew up. I hope to one day recreate those memories for my own children.
4. Editions de Parfums by Frédéric Malle
Frédéric Malle is a great French perfumer and is the grandson of Serge Heftler, the founder of Dior Perfumes. Under his direction 11 exceptional perfumers create 18 unique scents which are all so amazing its so hard to try and choose just one. I wear Vétiver Extraordinaire which is actually more of a men's fragrance which I quite love. The stores in Paris are amazing and every fragrance is kept at a certain temperature with special smelling booths I love these parfums as it is all about the craft, science & beauty of the product, rather than the name on the bottle.
5. Trilogy Organic Rosehip oil
I very rarely wear makeup and when I do its a bit of mascara some eyeliner and a bit of red matt lipstick if I'm feeling really adventurous. I am one of those naughty people that wash their face with whatever bar of soap is in the shower at the time.
I started using this about 2 years ago and found its the only thing I now need. I have pretty much no skincare régime so I love the simplicity of this product and the fact you can use it everywhere for everything and that is such great value.
6. Mychameleon
Mychameleon is a fairly new online store based in Australia. I love its fresh clean aesthetic. Giselle has a great eye for editing out the perfect pieces from a range of really interesting designers like Seneca Rising, Estelle Deve, Zoe & Morgan, Arnsdorf and very soon the new Benah collection.
7. Craftiness
Anything homemade and handcrafted is the best! From cards and wrapping paper, to baked goods and potted plants, even a Sunday roast. Our apartment is filled with my little ‘projects’ and I have bags and bags of ‘crafty’ supplies. I love just making stuff and being reminded of my childhood. I use to love events like Pet day at primary school where you got to make flower sand sources and bake cakes. Ahhhhh such fun carefree times.
8. Burberry Prorsum Menswear Spring 2011
I love the ‘Heritage biker’ look of this collection and the fact the the models resemble something of men. I’m especially keen on the trenches and leather jackets. I’m always influenced by menswear and Christopher Bailey just has the right amount of toughness mixed with simplicity.
9. My antique Diamond & Ruby engagement ring
I am not really one for the traditional platinum & diamond engagement rings with all the usual settings. That’s not to say that I don’t think they are lovely they just don’t feel very ‘me’. To be honest I think its just a little strange to have something so generic symbolizing something that is suppose to be so unique and as beautiful as the love between you and your soul mate. Ben did such an amazing job at choosing my ring all by himself, its the ring I always wanted but could never find. It has the perfect mix of delicate, beautiful and unique mixed into one. I never take it off, even when I’m doing the dishes or baking or taking a shower. I love how it just gets more sparkly & beautiful everyday from doing these things because ultimately its being able to do all the mundane things in life with your partner and still be able to have fun that makes for a truly amazing relationship.
10. L.O.V.E
What is not to love about love?! It’s the one thing in life that makes everything so much easier. Nothing is that bad when you are surrounded by the people you love the most, doing and creating things that you enjoy and that make you happy. It can not get much simpler really because it enables you to be the best person you can be. Never take it for granted.
I especially like this quote from poet Elizabeth Barrett Browning.
“I love you not only for what you are, but for what I am when I am with you. I love you not only for what you have made of yourself, but for what you are making of me. I love you for the part of me that you bring out” - Elizabeth Barrett Browning
