Info Post

This never ending ridiculous winter has got me thinking really hard about how cozy I would be in one of those long fur coats I see so many senior citizens sporting around town. I've always been kind of opposed to the idea of wearing one based on the fact that I am about 5'2" and anything ankle length, particularly when its bulky, tends to make me look like a stumpy, frumpy mess.
The curse of being short forces me to shop in the juniors section at most vintage or second hand stores, which results in most of my fashion inspiration coming from kids fashions of past generations. Turn of the century farm kids with smock dresses and bows in their hair, that sort of thing.

Nonetheless, I have always had a soft spot for old lady styles and wish I had the confidence or body frame to wear them! In the meantime, hats off to the writers over at Advanced Style for providing me with wonderful inspiration should I ever decide to cross over, and hours of entertainment should I choose to stick to what I know!

This blog post will be dedicated to one of their favorite senior ladies, and mine as well; Mimi Weddell!

An inspiration in more ways than one, at 96 years old still goes to the gym and stands on her head to make sure blood gets to her brain. She drinks a teaspoon of brandy to "bring her back to life" whenever she's "feeling spacey." She owns more than 150 hats and says that "if you don't wear a hat, you're missing it!" Her movie, "Hats Off!" released in 2008 is a feature length documentary, filmed over 12 years which displays Mimi's wonderfully eccentric lifestyle and has created all kinds of buzz!

Thanks for the inspiration Mimi!
