curio noir
Zoe has written about Curio Noir in the past, but Tiffany Jeans has recently expanded the collection and I just love it. It's mystical and a bit kooky but there's a really strong attention to detail and it is beautifully scented. I like it when things are done properly. There are beautiful linens created in collaboration with artist Richard Orjis, candles in two new scents (Chypre Gardenia and Black Spice) and various other incarnations of Curio Noir creativity - handmade, one at a time. For those with a fascination for the interesting and the uncommon.

Below: Look razor sharp with these new McQ Fall Winter 2011 jewellery collection... I need these leather double wrap bracelets with razor blade shaped hardware:-P

McQ Fall Winter 2011 'Razor Blade' JewelleryNow we all have no excuse not to look razor sharp this coming Fall Winter 2011. Check out these ultra cool bracelets and necklaces from McQ's Fall Winter 2011 collection! For the first time, McQ is offering a jewellery range in addition to their very avant garde ready to wear pieces. This first jewellery collection (though meant for women, boys can wear them too!) sees dominant inspiration by the most mundane of dangerous objects, think razor blades and safety pins... given a distinctive bad-boy McQueen spin, turning them into menacing but interesting accessories.
I want everything... love the razor blade shaped hardware that will get you that 'don't mess with me' attitude and envious glances:-)

This shoot features a few of my favourite pieces from spring/summer collections from some New Zealand designers - like the Stolen Girlfriends Club floral print by Karl Maughan, Kate Sylvester's feather headpiece, Ingrid Starnes' dainty yellow floral, and Twenty-seven Names' &Co knit sweaters. Sweet! Pretty! Cute!

TLO + JL slippers!

It is with great pride and jubilation that I present our collaboration with slipper company, Jacques Levine! If you're at Curve expo this weekend pop by the Jacques Levine booth to get a closer look at their latest collection including the two styles we worked on with them!
You can also follow Jacques Levine on tumblr for insightful posts from the man himself musing on vintage shoe advertisements and styles. Check it out, it's truly fascinating to read. I had the pleasure of meeting him a few months back and he was absolutely delightful and had a memory for details like I've never encountered before (my own memory is such garbage I can scarcely remember what I had for breakfast).
Mostly I just want to say: YOU GUYS, SLIPPERS! What is more decadent than a glamourous pair of mules to lounge about while in your underthings? The best thing about these "slippers" is that with their leather soles they're as good for outdoor activity as they are for indoor. I plan on never taking mine off once I get my hands on them (tried stuffing my 7.5 foot into the sample size and while they fit it had an awful Cinderella's stepsister effect that did not do these dainty shoes or my duck feet any favors). Have I ever mentioned here that all the redheads in my family (apparently, I've only just recently met them) have webbed toes? I haven't got them but I thought it was a strange coincidence that the redheads only would have them. Redheads, such a are a strange lot we are.

Fleur Exotique
I've been back in Stockholm for about 2 weeks. I'm working at the royal instítute of technology and I haven't felt like blogging for various reasons. But before I go back to study in Trollhättan, I'd like to make at least a few simple outfit posts. I forgot my camera in Stockholm on my holiday, and today when I finally decided to make an outfit post, the batteries were dead so I had to take pictures with my phone again. Hope the lacking quality isn't too disturbing! I hope to be blogging more this fall, see you then, if not sooner :)

Jazz

My pal Letty from LA Dama sent me these ballet slippers, very much keeping with my latest style muse: 1970's Freddie Mercury. This time I'm channeling Freddie from the record sleeve of their 1978 album Jazz (and me, being very much the ham had to get his pose recreated just right, see below). Ballet slippers were a big staple of Freddie's, sporting them on and off stage. They say "real men wear pink," but I'd like to add ballet slippers to that as well.
Wearing an LNA tee, J Brand jeans, American Apparel suspenders , studded ballet flats from La Dama, and "High Voltage Bolt" lightening necklace was a gift from my dear friend Angelica Morrow, hand-made by her father, jeweler Richard Morrow.

couleur naturelle

That's me doing my best Zoolander impersonation when I still had virgin hair--kids, if you're listening, don't dye your hair [finger wagging]! Will I ever have the patience to let my real hair grow back? Only time will tell (translates to probably not). Right now I have my strawberry roots growing in with slight hints of the old brown dye, and the bleach to cover it all up, and somehow I'm back to square one. Bleach is a strange addiction, and a hard one to break, and of course: the grass is always greener. Funny thing is I hate blonde hair, well I don't hate it, but I don't love it either. I always seem to gravitate towards the people blessed with dark luxurious locks, not porn star blondes--think less Orange County housewife, more Lou Doillon-esque Parisian badass. Added bonus, I think darker hair is much more flattering after the toe-headed phase of youth has worn off. My two options: 1. Chopping it all off and starting from scratch, or 2. Finding a gifted wonder-working colorist.
