FLORIDA

I just rescanned these polos I took during a holiday with my boyfriend's family in Florida.
Good times.

Inspiration - Cat People

Carl sometimes gets me records (I think at least 60% of my collection are gifts from him). A couple of months ago he got me a bunch of records, including the soundtrack to Cat people by David Bowie. I started listening to it yesterday and it made me want to watch the movie again, since I've only seen it once when I was 12 or something. So I dug it out and watched it. It's a really weird movie. I'd love to see the original from 1942! The 82' version has a really great mood to it, despite the somewhat odd story (incestuous cat-mutants who kill their lovers). I especially love Natassja Kinski's role as Irena. Irena is a young and naive girl who has to fight her inner sexuality in order to save the Zoo-curator she's fallen in love with. Irena has a really simple and careless look (kind of boyish or almost prudish). But despite the long skirts and manly shirts, she's very sensual and the whole movie is based on the sexual tension she generates. I almost decided to cut my hair again after watching it to the end, but I've already decided to grow it out now. Anyone got any good film tips where they have gorgeous long hair? ;)

Here's a moodboard of Irena's looks:

And here's my interpretation. I'm not nearly as cool, possibly an extra in the background. But Natassja Kinski is quite the person to live up to!

Accent with Animal Print

I can't resist posting Helga once again courtesy of Smilla. This woman is daring and vibrant and and always has a unique way of putting an outfit together. Smilla calls her the "Queen of Charm", which definitely is expressed with each new photo of this fantastic lady.

Another Dapper Man

[Photos and text: Ari Seth Cohen]

I saw this dapper man through the window while having lunch at Spring Natural and I quickly ran outside to take a photo of him. He was visiting from Argentina and seemed flattered that I'd ask for his photo. I love how older men take pride in how they dress and pay attention to the finest details. You can look dapper while still feeling comfortable and casual. We can learn a thing or two about the art of presentation from these charming and dignified gentlemen!

I have been debating with myself on whether or not I should pop into the Orla Kiely sample sale tomorrow at Chelsea Town Hall. I know I will be spoilt for choice and faced with many tough decisions on what to buy with my few remaining pennies.. I have very little will power when it comes to pretty things of high quality as I know they will be faithful to me for seasons to come...
Been holding onto these AW10 images for a while now but today they have reminded me how much I love everything this UK based label has to offer, so only fair really that I should share them with you lovely readers. I hope you enjoy and feel inspired!

 From beautiful Sophie's photoblog.

You know I've waited for so long
Glad I'm on two feet
Walking on the clouds
You know I wanted to show you how
You and me can be

Model-Off-Duty Style

Eat your heart out all you skinny-jean-leather-jacket-combat-boot wearing models (off-duty bien sur)! Mariacarla Boscono shows 'em where it's at layering texture upon texture of carbon black. Nice.
