rtl editie nl.

This week, was it this week, believe it was Monday, nah?

Anyway! I was on the RTL Editie NL, a news thing here in The Netherlands. Ha. They asked me to talk about feminine menswear or more likely, dresses for men and all. Ofcourse I was the perfect fit for this. Which is such an attitude thing to say this, but oh well. I don't mind actually.

If it's up to me, I would love to see more guys in dresses. Or skirts. And ofcourse not everyone, but most men these days should pay a little more attention on what it is they buy. And most important, it's not even that hard! It only takes courage and knowing what suits you the best. And maybe a simple item in another fabric or maybe 2 sizes bigger could do it for you. Play a little, dare a bit more and mosty have fun with it.

So after a small talk I dressed the guy of the news thing in some Acne, Damir Doma, Henrik Vibskov and Maison Martin Margiela. I also gave him a clutch and an even more extreme coat, but they cut it out. Eitherway, if you wanna see it or simply laugh, because it's fun.. go and peek:

Oh and tonight you can find me on AT5 with my friends and all, going and talking about the Iris van Herpen Show. Which was amazing! But more about that later. Adieu, x

help me out here.

Can anyone help me identify these few items?

I found them on Stylesight or maybe it was the blog. Eitherway it's Stockholm Fashion Week and I believe the clothing is by Fifth Avenue Shoe Repair and the shoes are by Acne, but I'm not sure.. Anyone?

I have to say, I love it. And if this means 2010. I abs. can't wait.
I'm so over 2009 already, ha. x

the september issue.

The September Issue is on her way!

Many of you may already know about it or even saw some footage of the docu aswell, as it's Anna Wintour and her team working on the September Issue from 2007. And to be honest, what I've seen so far, is good. And I mean that.

Whatever else, her daughter Bee Shaffer, ofcourse Grace Coddington and others like Karl Lagerfeld, Nicolas Ghesquière, Oscar de la Renta, Phillip Lim, Stefano Pilati, Thakoon and all. A must-see, dah! x

Desert Flower

My mom met this spectacular woman, while shopping at a flea market in Arizona. Sequins might not be for everyone, but she definitely has a fun and original look!

i dunno.

I'm blanco. I'm I dunno.

After quite some kind of.. busy day, Mylou and I, as impulsive as only we can be, decided on going to Revolutionary Road with Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio, hoeray. Or actually, not really.

The movie is about this couple who turn out to be just like all the others, having kids and living somewhere far from the city, feeling quite unhappy, but trying to be picture perfect for everyone to see. Finally they come-up with the idea of moving to Paris, feeling free, creating space in their minds for new things to happen and to take it all on another whatever you may call it.

Eventually, Kate gets pregnant and Leo decides he wants to take the promotion he got offered. Then next thing, well, since some of you guys may wanna see the movie, I will not go on. But the movie shot me deep, I'm upset and I can't even talk. The movie showed me something I'm not happy about and my heart is crying for at least a bit..

I dunno, no. I dunno, hmm. I'm a bit blanco. That's for sure. Or maybe it's just the entire Amsterdam Not-So-International Fashion Week. Maybe too much feelings, maybe I just really missed Chriz. Maybe this, maybe that. I dunno. All I know is that my neck hurts and I feel bad.

Time for a cup of tea. I'll be fine, ofcourse.

Lots of love and goodnight kisses. Adieu!

My Collections: Pt. 1 - Stuffings

I am a pack rat. There's no two ways about it, I just love being surrounded in a little rat's nest of junk. I decided I should start documenting things a little better - so here we have the start to a little series showcasing all my 'ol stuff!

. . . S T U F F I N G S . . .

It's the raggly and scraggly humble old friends that people once formed their childhoods around and they steal my heart each and every time! I have them scattered about - sitting on suitcases and hiding in book shelves - I try to keep them spread out as it's best not to lump this collection all together - at 22 you might be mistaken for having pre-cat lady symptoms.

I did however get the the gang together for a family portrait of sorts. It should be the first and last - but there's no promising!

My 'collection' (?)

. . .

I buy most of my stuffings at flea markets and antique stores. I rarely find the nice oldies in thrift stores. I've had the best luck at flea markets but sometimes people ask for outlandish amounts of money - I try not to pay anymore than $5 - but once in a while there are some you don't mind forkin' over a few extra doll hairs for ... I think these two pals were the priciest.. Each alone could be a new pretty dress - but we all have our vices.

new friens

. . .

This little one eyed bandit was a gift - and I think he hails from Western MA and he just might have been the catalyst for the collection...

This fancy cat was a gift from the always lovely Rhiannon He's so long and lanky and I really adore his blue bow-tie!

. . .

Lion Dog was also a gift and comes from one of the most beautiful antique stores I've ever been to in my entire life. His two tone tail is my favorite part!

The next few were all found in flea markets and are some of the very best!

I bought this zebra at the Bizarre Bazaar - I really love zebras, because they're awesome and also because my last name starts with a Z. The lovely girl who makes them lives in Boston and has a wonderful etsy shop. You have no idea how much I want this and this!

Sadly, I have more - a lot more - but I'll only share one last one! Alice bought this for me for Christmas. It's a little wind up lion and it's probably the most perfect thing I own. His little red tongue and exposed spring tail is really too perfect!! They're both very dear to my heart!

This Weekend

Blouse & Skirt Thrifted
Tights H&M in Barcelona
Shoes Jeffrey Campbell
Glasses vintage bought on e-bay

I have a special blogpost dedicated to my winter coats coming up soon and I was hoping to take the pictures for it this weekend with Mike, but the amount of homework that has snuck up on me and piled itself on my desk doesn't leave much room for fun stuff like that!
I'll be locked away doing homework for most of tonight, tomorrow and Sunday with a small break to watch a movie with Stef tonight and another to have dinner at Mike's Mom's house on Sunday!

My boss left today for a semester in Pamplona, Spain and left me in charge of hiring people for the summer and making the schedules. At first I was excited and now I'm just terrified.

It's still snowing here and it doesn't show signs of stopping (has anyone brought some corn for popping?)

Have a lovely weeekend!

Etsy

My Etsy shop has been empty for a while since I've tried to sell clothes on Swedish sites instead. But now I've decided to give it a go, so take a look at the 3 dresses I've listed so far:

guess who's back!

My dearest Jeampy is back! Meaning one of my best friends, Jean Paul Paula. Which ofcourse, has been shown, posted, talked about and all, of this blog many times, but that's another story. This time, he was off to Paris for fashionweek, without me, doing the backstage shizz for Louis Vuitton, meeting up with Marc Jacobs, surely grabbing to attention of everyone, running around, seeing shows, working for MYKROMAG, etc.

So after a small two weeks, the bitch finally came back and we met again yesterdayeve. Hallaluha-ja-whatever, how happy am I to have you around again. Which reminds me, I have to hurry as in the tv-channel AT5 is following us and Aynouk, Bubba, Christopher and Majid during Amsterdam International Fashion Week. And the first show, and actually one of the most talented and best ones, will be held within an hour.. Oh, meaning the Iris van Herpen Show, google her or peek my blog next week.

So.. happy happy JeanPaul is back. And now I have to run. Ha.

Ps. Click on his name between my links, he also holds a blog! x

couture paris spring 2009, pt 2.

And again, new shows, two I will blog about, here they are. Tadaaa!

Elie Saab
I'm a big Elie Saab fan, so depending on the colour pallettte, I may like a certain collection or not. This time, with the volume and shapes and the soft tones, I think, this collection is abs. stunning! x

Valentino
Like always, gorgeous in a grownup way. Nothing too extreme, but with a little edge. Nice fabrics, good models. Nice!

My How They Grow Up Fast!

I have had my little girl (she's a dog, not a baby, but she might as well be my own child at this point) for about a year and a half now and realized I don't write about her on my blog nearly enough! She keeps me entertained each and every single moment I'm around her and is the most fulfilling investment I've ever made!
There's nothing more comforting than coming home, knowing you will open your door to unconditional, incredibly enthusiastic love and kisses!

So here is a little photographic ode to Lola!

Current Name: Lola
Original Name: Lula Mae
Birthday: March 10th, 2007
Adoption: May 2007
Favourite game: chase
Favourite trick: give paw
Favourite toy: Jumbalaya (may he R.I.P.)
Favourite human food: cheese
Favourite doggie treat: Snausages

5 Fun Facts about Lola

1. She watches TV: it doesn't have to be on. When people are ignoring her, no matter what house she is in, she goes to a couch that is facing a TV and lies down on that couch staring at the screen.

2. She loves to dig: She will never get anywhere, she doesn't dig in dirt. She digs on linoleum floors, beds, carpets, couches, chairs or whatever she happens to be sitting on when the urge strikes! I still don't know what it is she thinks she's doing!

3. She is kind of "racist". I'm not sure if this is a Dachshund wide mentality, or a Lola special, but she will only socialize with other Dachshunds. She can be civil with other dogs, especially if they are of the Hound family, but she won't play with them or get along. Put her in a room with another weiner though, and she goes wild!

4. She gets homesick: she travels between my house and my parents house quite a bit, especially these days with the apartment stuff and being in school full time. Everytime she's been staying at one or the other of the two houses and has to leave she pouts for 2 days before going back to normal!

5. She is a killer! My parents built her a little fenced in area in our backyard and one day they let her out there only to find her missing when they came back to let her in! It turns out a squirrel had tempted her into squishing her way under the fence and she CAUGHT HIM! Keep in mind, when thinking this is unimpressive, that her legs are 2inches long! She can run!!!!!!!
