Would You Lie With Me And Just Forget The World?

Stella McCartney for Target? While I think we are all lifting our right eyebrows in a quizzical manner, let's stop thinking what this means for her career and start celebrating. Stella may not be my favourite designer but I did like what she did at Chloe and also her diffusion sports line. After so many seasons of being jealous of the UK and America, finally Australia gets a bone thrown its way. However, the above teaser photo released on news.com.au doesn't exactly scream awesome. McCartney describes the 42 piece collection as classics and hopefully the quality will surpass that of previous designer/Target USA collections.

All the World's a Stage...

Shakespeare said it first, followed by Andy Warhol's similar sentiment in 1968 stating that, "in the future, everyone will have 15 minutes of fame". Perhaps that has never been more true than right now?

With the explosion of sites like Myspace and Youtube, new internet stars have been born. Even more recently fashion has joined the ranks creating it's own online community, Iqons. Can anyone be a star??

One of my new bookmarks on the net is Am_lul's fotolog. This pic of her pretty much sums it up...

...a guitar, some over-the-knee socks and a Chanel necklace. When can we expect the album?

EDIT: Correction pic is of Valentine Fillol Cordier for Jalouse...sentiment stays the same!

Strangely Beautiful...

I have a confession - I think I have a girl crush on Iekeliene Stange . Bizarre as it may be, I just love her kooky style and funny faces...

...and how she magically cleans up for the runway. She walked in many a spring show but I'm predicting Fall is going to be blockbuster for this model. She has a bit of that "alien chic" look that is so au courant...and not to mention a set of chiseled cheekbones that would make Joan Collins jealous.

Models.com has her currently ranked at #33...but I'm predicting she's a rising star.

Who are your favorites for the Fall 07 season?

Fashion Warrior...

Giovanna Battaglia.

L'Uomo Vogue fashion editor, snapped by blogger/photographer extraordinaire, Scott Schuman - aka The Sartorialist. Here she rocks a Marc Jacobs dress, great Louis Vuitton boots and some serious Irina bangs.

Not wanting to merely focus on her surface talents, (at this level dressing is a talent, no?) check out some of the stunning styling she's done...

Coldplay

The weather has finally turned blustery and bitterly cold here in Montreal, and all possibilities of global warming suddenly seems quite absurd. However, when I found this grainy editorial in Japanese Vogue I truly appreciated that they seemed to be feeling the same way.

Taken by landscape photograpaher Cedric Buchet - the styling is what stopped my beating heart...the elegant layers (MK eat your heart out), the mixtures of textures and serious fabrics, the chunky shoes and avant-garde postures! Sigh. Perhaps to anyone excpet a Canadian girl...they almost succeeded in romanticizing winter.

Soho Surprise

So...I've been a slightly delinquent blogger due to my (somewhat distracting) full time job. However - I was in New York for work and managed to squeeze in some great sale shopping...cute silk sack dresses at Barney's Co-op and fierce Victor & Rolf shoes for 50% off at Via Bus Stop in Soho. (Totally worth the trip!)

All that aside...I stumbled upon the new Tibi store in Soho. The clothes were as cheerful as the store itself and I felt the need to share. I not usually one for so many bright colours...but their prints are lovely and I'm having a bit of a 60's moment...

Bright prints and graphic patterns...on the clothes and walls...

Only problem...I'm left wondering if they're going to have to renovate next spring??

Dance Tonight - Revolution Tomorrow

Unfortunately I didn't invent the caption above - it happens to be the mantra of French denim hipsters April 77. However - that happened to be exactly how I felt at the end of an rather exceptionally bad day at work - and what's an angry (sub any emotion in my case- happy, sad, whateva) girl to do? Retail therapy...

So I found myself at Reborn trying on many a lovely item and ending up with some SKINNY (with a capital S) -- BLACK with a capital B) jeans that are so rock and roll they make me wanna pair them with angry Balenciaga boots, a vintage plaid shirt and "dance tonight - revolution tomorrow...."

Fall Forward?

I know it might sound a bit crazy...but with the shows just around the corner I'm already starting to think about Fall. For me, there's always been something about heavy woolen coats, turtlenecks and boots that make my heart swell. I'm also thinking that the current 60's theme might begin to feel tired fast and suddenly the 70's seem refreshing! All those brights from deepened into lovely mustards and dark corals...also deep cobalt blue mixed with brown...

Brave New Lanvin

The Spring 07 Lanvin show is looking better by the minute as we inch closer to the season. His subtle version of high-tech gleam and glamour suddenly seem oh-so 2007. And while Alber Elbaz certainly wasn't the only designer having a Space Odyssey moment - his was clearly more graceful than most. What does this mean for those girls that may not be sprinting to their local Barney's for a future-fix? Satin mini-dresses and anything you can find with some shine!

Yellow Fever...

...net-a-porter style! They seem to be in agreement with Vogue Japan and The Glossy about YELLOW being the colour du jour for Spring 07.
